The Connecticut Society of Portrait Artists (CSOPA), The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum (LMMM), and Stepping Stones Museum for Children (SSMC) have partnered to create special portrait events for children and their families. The spring exhibition, Childhood Portraits: Our Children Our Future (CP15), features twenty new, original portraits of children created exclusively by CSOPA members. Without any obligation to purchase, this is a rare opportunity for families and children to experience a great artistic tradition that began in ancient Greece and Rome.
EXHIBITION
There is no more prestigious arts venue in Fairfield County than the beautifully restored Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum. This National Historic Landmark is an ideal setting for the May 2015 portrait exhibition and is an exceptional opportunity for children to learn about American 19th century art and architecture. Opening reception is May 9, 2015.

Stepping Stones Museum for Children, a private, nonprofit children’s museum, offers engaging educational experiences that nurture creativity, play and lifelong learning. SSMC was the host venue for the initial phase of this project. Families and artists met and their mutual inspiration resulted in the creation of 21 original portraits.
